VANILLA CUSTARD SLICE
Slice of vegetarian vanilla cream with a pastry cream surrounded by puff pastry. Only 6 ingredients is simple to prepare.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 sheets store-bought puff pastry, thawed
For custard:
- 4 eggs
- 3 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cup granulated sugar
- 2½ cup all-purpose flour
- 8 cups of milk
- ½ cup powdered sugar for dusting
INSTRUCTIONS
First, preheat the oven to 180ºC (350ºF).
Then, place the dough sheets on two rectangular baking sheets covered with parchment paper and prick all over with a fork, but do not cross the dough.
Bake 20-25 minutes or until puffed and golden. Remove from oven and set aside to cool. The whole sheet of dough cut the shape according to the size of the 9x13 inch rectangular mold and a second sheet of dough cut into squares (about 12), this will be the top of the cake
For the custard:
First, pour the milk into a medium saucepan, bring the milk to a boil, then remove from the heat.
Then, in a medium bowl, whisk eggs, sugar and flour until very smooth
Pour into the pan with the milk and mix to mix well, add the vanilla extract
Return to heat, stir constantly over medium-low heat until boiling and thickening of the custard
Remove the pastry cream from the heat
Pour the pastry cream over the dough in the prepared 9 x 13 inch rectangular pan, carefully put the rest of the dough sheet on the layer of vanilla cream
Refrigerate at least 3-4 hours or until everything is set.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
