BAKED MOZZARELLA CHEESE STICKS

BAKED MOZZARELLA CHEESE STICKS RECIPE

If you want to prepare and freeze them in advance, you can. After the second coating, leave the sticks in the freezer on the tray and let them freeze completely.

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 package reduced-fat mozzarella string cheese (12 oz)
  • 8 tablespoons Japanese panko or bread scrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup prepared marinara sauce, warmed (optional)

DIRECTIONS

First, place the rack in the upper third of the oven and preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly spray with cooking spray.

Then, remove the mozzarella from the packaging and set aside. In a small non-stick pan, mix the Italian seasoning with the panko and place over medium heat. Cook and stir the breadcrumbs until lightly golden.

Dip each cheese in a rope in the egg until it is coated, then in the grilled panko, coat evenly. Dip the string cheese in the egg and again in the panko.
Place on a baking sheet. Repeat until everything is used up.

Cook 5-6 minutes or until heated through. Remove from heat and serve immediately. Happy Cooking Time.
