Old-Fashioned Cabbage Casserole

Old-Fashioned Cabbage Casserole

It is an abundance of dill in my garden that led me to try. My family loved the taste so much that from there I made my recipe for old-fashioned dill rolls. Here's how to make easy cabbage rolls.

Ingredients
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 8 tablespoons butter
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 medium Vidalia onion, chopped
  • 1 small head green cabbage
  • 1 (10-ounce) can condensed cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup

Topping
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 sleeve Ritz crackers (about 30), coarsely crushed

Instructions

First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 2-quart saucepan.

Then, coarsely chop the cabbage. Melt the butter in a large nonstick skillet.
Add cabbage and onion and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring frequently, or until partially cooked.

Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Transfer the cabbage mixture to the prepared baking dish.

In a small bowl, mix soup and mayonnaise. Spread the mixture over the cabbage.

In a bowl, mix the melted butter, cheese and cracker crumbs. Sprinkle on the pan.

Bake 30 minutes or until garnish is golden brown.

Happy Cooking Time.
