Asian Garlic Tofu

Asian Garlic Tofu

This crispy seared garlic and sesame tofu will change your mind about the tofu almost instantly!

Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup Hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • green onions for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 package super firm tofu
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • rice for serving

Instructions

First, Remove the tofu from the package. Place about 4 paper napkins on a plate. Place the tofu on top of the plate and cover with more paper towels. Place a cast iron pan or something heavy on top. Let sit for 30 minutes.

Then, in a medium bowl, combine the Hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sugar, ginger, garlic and red pepper flakes.

Cut the tofu into bite-size pieces. Place in a bowl with the sauce and toss to coat. Let sit for 30 minutes.

Heat the olive oil in a medium cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
When really hot, add the tofu. Once well grasped on the bottom, turn it over. Continue to cook until the bottom is seared.

Drizzle with sesame oil and remove from heat.

Sprinkle with green onions and serve with rice.

Happy Cooking Time.
