Garlic Butter Sausage






Tomato and spicy sausage filling in a toasted garlic buttered bun loaded with mozzarella.

INGREDIENTS

4 under rolls

1/4 tsp. freshly chopped parsley

1 lb ground Italian sausage

2 finely grated garlic cloves

8 oz. grated mozzarella cheese

1/4 tsp. thinly sliced basil leaves

1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil

1/4 tsp. (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature

1/4 tsp. Kosher salt

2 tbsp. marinara sauce

DIRECTIONS

First, preheat the oven to 450 °. In a small bowl, combine the butter with the garlic, parsley and salt. Split the rolls lengthwise, leaving a hinge at the back, and place them on a rimmed baking sheet. Spread the cut sides of the rolls with the butter mixture. Bake until golden, about 8 minutes.

Then, meanwhile, heat the oil in a large skillet. Add the sausage and cook, breaking up large pieces with a spoon and stirring occasionally, until golden brown, about 7 minutes. Add marinara sauce and cook, stirring constantly, until heated through, about 2 minutes.

Divide the sausage mixture among the toasted buns and top with cheese. Return to oven and bake until cheese is melted, about 7 minutes. Sprinkle with basil and serve. Happy Cooking Time.
