Creamiest Rice Pudding
A delicious and creamy rice pudding recipe, cooked on the stove. Be sure to watch carefully and stir as needed.
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 cup long grain white rice, I use half a full cup
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 6 cups whole milk, divided
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- ground cinnamon, optional
INSTRUCTIONS
First, in a large saucepan, combine 5 1/2 cups of milk, sugar and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Then, stir in the rice and reduce the heat to low. Make sure to adjust the heat so that it simmers gently.
Stirring occasionally, cook for 50 to 60 minutes. The mixture should thicken to the consistency of yogurt.
Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.
Let cool then refrigerate. The last 1/2 cup of milk is mixed just before serving. Sprinkle with cinnamon if desired. Happy Cooking Time.
