CHEDDAR SAUSAGE BISCUITS








Our family loves cheddar sausage cookies! Filled with cheese and sausage goodness, they make a great breakfast or a great meal!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup cornmeal
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
  • 1/4 pound breakfast sausage
  • 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup chives (or green onions), finely minced

INSTRUCTIONS

First, in a skillet, brown the sausage until cooked through. Drain and remove from heat. Let cool.

Then, preheat the oven to 400 degrees

In a large bowl, whisk together sour cream and eggs. Add the butter and whisk until well blended. 
Stir in the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir to combine.

Stir in the sausage, cheese and chives.

Pour the dough onto a lined baking sheet. The cookies don't spread out much, so you can bring them closer together.

Bake 24 to 28 minutes until lightly browned.
