HEALTHY OAT AND DATE SLICE
A healthy and easy slice of oats and dates made from oats and chia seeds. It really is the perfect healthy slice! Quick, easy and delicious!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 tsp bi-carb soda
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 cups (500g) water
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds
- 2 cups (180g) quick oats or rolled oats
- 300 g pitted dates roughly chopped
- 2 tablespoons LSA ground linseed, almond and sunflower seeds (optional)
- 50 g dark chocolate to drizzle
Instructions
First, preheat the oven to 180 degrees (or 160 degrees of forced ventilation). Grease and line a 18 x 28 cm rectangular box and set aside.
Then, place the chopped dates in a saucepan with the water. Simmer for about 15 minutes or until softened and the mixture has started to thicken.
Add the baking soda and mix to combine (it will foam).
Add the oats, chia seeds, LSA and honey and mix to combine. If the slice is a little too dry or damp, just add more oats or water.
Firmly press the mixture into the slice pan.
Bake for about 30 minutes or until lightly browned and firm to the touch.
Let cool in the pan.
Drizzle the dark chocolate. Happy Cooking Time.
