Hot Cross Bun Pudding
Just in case leftovers from hot crossbread rolls are a problem in your home, you could do a lot worse than using them to make this delicious hot crossbread pudding!
Ingredients
- 300 ml Milk
- 2 Medium Eggs
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 275 ml Double Cream
- 6-8 Hot Cross Buns (Halved)
- 3 tbsp Caster Sugar
- 200 g Milk Chocolate (Bar)
- 100 g Chocolate Chips
Instructions
First, preheat your oven to 180C / 160C Fan and grease a large ceramic / glass baking dish / tray. It should contain 6-8 Hot Cross Buns sitting side by side (as in the photos)
Then, cut your hot buns in half as you would to toast them, and put a few pieces of chocolate in the middle and sandwich again. I used a chocolate bar, broke the rows and put a row in the middle of each bun.
Place all of your hot rolls side by side in the pan. Mine easily fits six, then a 7th split in two at the ends.
In a bowl, whisk together the milk, double cream, eggs, sugar and vanilla until well blended.
Pour over Hot Cross Buns and sprinkle over chocolate chips.
Bake for 40 minutes, then remove and let cool 10 minutes before eating! Happy Cooking Time.
