SHEET PAN BEEF AND BROCCOLI
This recipe
for Chinese beef and broccoli is EASY, HEALTHIER than going out because it's baked
and FASTER than calling to go !!
INGREDIENTS:
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
- 3 tablespoons reduced sodium soy sauce, divided
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons brown sugar, divided
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 1/2 pounds New York strip steak, cut into 1-inch chunks
- 2 heads broccoli, cut into florets
- 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
DIRECTIONS:
First, in a
large 2-cup saucepan, cook the rice according to the directions on the package;
put aside.
Then, preheat
the oven to 450 degrees F. Lightly oil a baking sheet or coat with a non-stick
spray.
In a large
bowl, combine the steak, 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 2 teaspoons of brown sugar.
Place the steak and broccoli in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
Place in the
oven and cook until the steak is golden and the broccoli is just tender, about
16-18 minutes.
In a small
saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the sesame oil, garlic, ginger, red
pepper flakes, the remaining 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and the remaining 2
tablespoons of brown sugar. Bring to a boil; lower the heat and simmer,
stirring constantly, until slightly thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
Serve steak
and broccoli immediately with rice, drizzle with soy sauce mixture and garnish
with green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
