SHEET PAN BEEF AND BROCCOLI

SHEET PAN BEEF AND BROCCOLI

This recipe for Chinese beef and broccoli is EASY, HEALTHIER than going out because it's baked and FASTER than calling to go !!

INGREDIENTS:
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 3 tablespoons reduced sodium soy sauce, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons brown sugar, divided
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 1 1/2 pounds New York strip steak, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 2 heads broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger

DIRECTIONS:

First, in a large 2-cup saucepan, cook the rice according to the directions on the package; put aside.

Then, preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Lightly oil a baking sheet or coat with a non-stick spray.

In a large bowl, combine the steak, 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 2 teaspoons of brown sugar. Place the steak and broccoli in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.

Place in the oven and cook until the steak is golden and the broccoli is just tender, about 16-18 minutes.

In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the sesame oil, garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes, the remaining 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and the remaining 2 tablespoons of brown sugar. Bring to a boil; lower the heat and simmer, stirring constantly, until slightly thickened, about 2-3 minutes.

Serve steak and broccoli immediately with rice, drizzle with soy sauce mixture and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.

Happy Cooking Time.
