Slow Cooker BBQ Beef Brisket
Beef breast
cooked slowly until tender, then baked to obtain this beautiful caramelization,
brushed with a homemade barbecue sauce in which the breast is cooked. Cut it
into slices and serve it as part of a generous supper in the Southern fashion
or stack it well on paws!
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 Tablespoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 Tablespoon dried thyme leaves
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 (18 oz.) bottle barbecue sauce
- 1½ teaspoons liquid smoke flavoring
- 3 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 to 3 pounds beef brisket
- 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
First, Stir
thyme, paprika, pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder and cumin in a small
bowl.
Then, Rub
the spice mixture on the top of the breast.
Pour 1 cup
of water into the bottom of the slow cooker. Place the breast covered with
spices over the water. Pour liquid smoke and Worcestershire sauce on the
breast. Cover with the lid and cook on low heat for 12 hours.
Once cooked,
gently remove the breast from a large dish. Remove the fat from the bottom of
the chest. It should easily go away immediately. Discard the fat. Shred the
chest.
Carefully
(it will be hot!) Pour the remaining water out of the slow cooker.
Place the shredded
breast in the slow cooker and pour the barbecue sauce on top. Stir gently.
Cover with lid and cook another 30 minutes or until sauce is hot.
Serve the
hot breast. Happy Cooking Time.
