MILLION DOLLAR MAC AND CHEESE
This pan of
cheese macaroni is one in a million! It's so cheesy and delicious and
definitely a family favorite.
INGREDIENTS
For the mac
and cheese:
- 1 3/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 ounces Roth Havarti grated
- 3 ounces Roth Butterkäse grated
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 8 ounces elbow macaroni
- 10 ounces Roth Prairie Sunset grated
For the
bread crumb topping:
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 tablespoon parsley chopped
- ½ cup Panko bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon butter melted
INSTRUCTIONS
First, Preheat
oven to 375 degrees.
Then, Bring
a large pot of water to a boil. Cook the pasta for one minute less than the
instructions on the package. Drain.
While
cooking macaroni, melt 3 tablespoons butter in a medium saucepan and add the
flour. Cook by whisking constantly on low heat for 1 minute.
Continue to
whisk and slowly pour the milk and cream. Cook another 2 minutes until thick
and smooth.
Remove from
heat and stir in the grated Prairie Sunset, salt and pepper. Continue stirring
until smooth and creamy.
Add the
macaroni cooked in the cheese sauce and stir to coat.
Pour the
melted butter into the bottom of a 2-liter baking dish. Pour half of the
macaroni and cheese on top.
Add a layer
of grated Havarti and spread the sour cream over the top. Cover with a layer of
grated butter.
Pour the
remaining macaroni and cheese on top.
Mix Panko,
melted butter, garlic salt and parsley to obtain a filling of bread crumbs.
Sprinkle macaroni with cheese.
Bake for 25
minutes or until sauce is bubbling and top is golden.
