Zaatar Spring Rolls

 Zaatar Spring Rolls

This zaatar egg roll recipe may be a delicious, crunchy, Lebanese inspired grilled appetizer that's super easy to form with dumplings / egg wrap.

INGREDIENTS

16 ounces of halloumi cheese or soft Syrian cheese like Ackawi

16 packs of seven inch square egg rolls (I use Nasoya)

1 small bunch coarsely chopped mint leaves

1/4 cup zaatar

Small bowl of water to hide the sides

Olive oil or spray oil to coat

Plain yogurt cheese to serve (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

1.Preheat oven to 425 ° F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2.Cut the halloumi or other pot cheese blocks into slices the dimensions of your thumb.

3.Place the spring roll wrapper on a dry chopping board or other surface and lay it on an angle in order that the corner of every wrapper is closest to you.

4.Place the cheese slices over the bias on rock bottom third of every egg roll wrap and sprinkle with fresh mint leaves. Place your finger during a bowl crammed with water and rub it round the edges.

5.Starting from rock bottom corner closest to you, roll up the packaging and fold the sides inward as you go. Roll the package closed, adding a touch water if necessary. Press lightly to bring the ends together.

6.Place the seal side of the filled spring roll on the prepared baking sheet and repeat with the opposite wrappers until you're done.

7.Brush the spring roll with vegetable oil or coat with cooking spray, then sprinkle with zaatar seasoning.

8.Bake in preheated oven until golden brown and crispy on the surface , about quarter-hour .

9.Serve with plain yogurt, if desired.
