Crispy Fried Marinated Halloumi

Crispy Fried Marinated Halloumi Cheese - Quick, easy and satisfying. Gluten and keto free

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 2 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon of tomato paste
  • ¾ teaspoon of ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon of turmeric or beetroot powder
  • 1 halloumi cheese (about 250 g), cut into slices 10 mm thick
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon of curry powder (garam masala or your favorite mixture)
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • lemons or limes, cut into wedges, for serving (optional)

Instructions

First, whisk the ginger and garlic together in a blender until a smooth paste forms. Add the yogurt, spices and lemon juice. Mix to form a smooth marinade.

Then, pour the marinade into an airtight container. Add the halloumi slices and mix gently to be well coated with the marinade. Seal and refrigerate for about 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 190 ° C / Gas Mark 5.

Line a baking sheet with a non-stick baking sheet or parchment paper.

Remove any excess marinade from the halloumi slices. Arrange the slices on the baking sheet, leaving a space of 2 centimeters between them (because the halloumi will spread out slightly during cooking).

Bake for 20 minutes, until the cheese is lightly browned and crispy on top.

Serve piping hot with a dash of lime or lemon juice (if desired).

Happy Cooking Time.

Notes

Serve with lemon or lime wedges, to squeeze over the cheese.

I don't add salt to the marinade because I find the cheese to be quite salty without adding any. You can think differently.
