Sweet Hot Honey Mustard Chicken Wings

Sweet Hot Honey Mustard Chicken Wings

If you're as exhausted as I am with the basic Buffalo Chicken Wings recipe, then this recipe is for you. The hot, sweet, mustard frosting is a very welcome change of pace from the traditional style. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons of paprika
  • grill oil
  • 4½ - 5 pounds of chicken wings and drumsticks, wing tips trimmed
  • 2 cups of buttermilk
  • ⅓ cup of honey
  • 2 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon of rice wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • ⅓ cup of El Diablo Jalapeno mustard

Instructions

First, place the chicken pieces in a large bowl. In a liquid measuring cup, whisk together the buttermilk, honey and paprika. Pour mixture over chicken, cover, and refrigerate for at least an hour (mine soaked for about 5 hours) but no more than 12 hours.

Then, heat your grill to 425 ° F. Carefully rub the oil on the grill grates (don't drip !!!).

Place the chicken on the grill, leaving enough space between the pieces to turn. You want to get a nice charred grill mark on each side (this will crisp the skin).

Reduce heat to about 375 ° F, cover and continue cooking for about 25 minutes or until the internal temperature of the wings reaches 160 ° - 165 ° F.

Combine the mustard, honey, melted butter and rice wine vinegar. Toss the wings in the sauce to coat them. Serve hot.

Happy Cooking Time.
