ITALIAN BAKED EGGS
Serve this egg dish with thick, crisp toast to absorb all of the delicious egg yolk and delicious marinara. A beautiful dish for brunch, breakfast or breakfast for dinner!
INGREDIENTS:
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 cup shredded gruyere cheese
- 1/4 cup fat free or lowfat milk
- 1/4 cup basil leaves, chiffonade
- 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
DIRECTIONS:
First, preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Lightly oil two 10-ounce ramekins or coat with a non-stick spray.
Then, distribute the marinara sauce evenly among the ramekins. Garnish with eggs, milk, Swiss cheese and Parmesan cheese; Season with salt and pepper according to your taste.
Place in the oven and cook until the egg whites are cooked through, about 10 minutes.
Serve immediately, garnished with basil leaves, if desired.
