Cheesy White Pizza Casserole

Cheesy White Pizza Casserole

The White Pizza Casserole is a delicious mix of white pizza cheese sauce, pasta and lots of pepperoni, cooked to crisp perfection.

Ingredients
  • 6 oz  pepperoni's
  • 2 1/2 cups  shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 cups  dry penne pasta  (cook based on package directions)

Sauce:
  • 2 cups  heavy cream  (warm)
  • 1  medium onion  (minced)
  • 1/2 cup  parmesan  (grated)
  • 4 cloves  garlic  (minced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon  fresh thyme  (diced)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup  unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon  all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon  fresh oregano  (chopped leaves only)

Instructions

First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Then, in a large skillet or saucepan over low heat, add the butter once the onion is almost melted and diced and cook until it is transparent, about 5 minutes. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.

Add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds. T

Add the flour and stir to distribute the flour. Increase the heat to medium and cook for a minute or two, stirring continuously.

Slowly add the hot cream to a slow drizzle and stir constantly to avoid lumps.

Bring the cream mixture to a boil and cook until it thickens slightly.

When the sauce has the consistency of a sauce, season it with fresh thyme, oregano and a pinch of salt and pepper.

Remove from the heat and stir in the Parmesan.

Cook penne pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

Add the cooked pasta, 3/4 of the pepperoni, 1 cup of grated mozzarella cheese and the white pizza sauce to a large bowl and mix gently to combine.

Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13 '' pan. Sprinkle 1 cup 1 / s of mozzarella cheese on top (you can use more or less cheese), garnish with the remaining pieces of pepperoni.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until cheese is golden and bubbling.

For a golden brown top, grill for the last few minutes of cooking.

Happy Cooking Time.
