BAKED BACON CHEESE DIP
This bacon
and cheese dip is the ULTIMATE party food. This creamy cheese dip is made up of
five different types of cheese, loaded with bacon and cooked in a bread bowl
for easy serving.
INGREDIENTS
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 4 pieces cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 large sweet onions, thinly sliced (about 1 pound)
- 3 ounces shredded Gruyere cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon white wine (or marsala, sherry vinegar)
INSTRUCTIONS
First, preheat
the oven to 400 degrees F.
Then, in a
large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the onions, salt and
pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 8 minutes.
Reduce the heat to
medium, add the thyme and continue cooking, stirring occasionally for 15 to 20
minutes until golden. Pour the wine to deglaze the mold, scraping the sides and
bottom of the mold. Continue cooking for another 2 minutes.
Transfer the
cooked onions to a mixing bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir to mix
well.
Spread the
mixture in a 2-cup baking dish and bake at 400 degrees F for about 20 minutes,
until it is sparkling and golden.
