Best Ever Baked Tofu
This 30
minute baked tofu recipe is my favorite way to make tofu! It's ultra-easy,
fully customizable with your favorite seasonings, and surprisingly crisp and
delicious.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 block extra firm tofu
- 1/2 cup liquid aminos
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 3/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
First, whisk
together all the ingredients for the marinade.
Then, cut
the tofu into 1/2 inch thick squares and dip them in the marinade. Cover and
marinate overnight in the refrigerator.
The next
day, preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place the tofu on the baking sheet, with a little space between them so that
they do not touch. Reserve the marinade. Place in the oven and bake for 30
minutes.
While the
tofu cooks, take the reserved marinade and heat it in a small saucepan over medium
heat. Simmer until reduced by two thirds. The marinade will be thick and
syrupy.
Once the
tofu is cooked for 30 minutes, sprinkle the top and sides of the tofu with the
reduced sauce. Turn the tofu over and sprinkle the other side.
Return the tofu
to the oven and bake for another 1 hour and 30 minutes, basting and turning the
tofu every 30 minutes.
