Red Velvet Gooey Butter Cake

Red Velvet Gooey Butter Cake

This is a succulent and decadent red velvet bar that is ooey and slimy. This recipe uses a red velvet cake mix and then has a delicious cheesecake topping and chocolate chips or red holiday chocolate chips added to the filling. It is topped with powdered sugar for a completely exaggerated dessert experience.

Ingredients

For the crust:
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1 stick, melted
  • 1 (15.25-ounce) box red velvet cake mix

For the filling:
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (8-ounce) block cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1 stick, melted

Instructions

First, preheat the oven to 350 ° F and lightly spray a 13 x 9 inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

Then, in a large bowl, mix the cake mix, melted butter and egg together to make the crust. Press the mixture evenly across the bottom of the pan.

In another large bowl, use a mixer to beat the cream cheese until smooth.
Add the eggs and mix well. Add the butter and mix well. Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until well blended. Stir in vanilla. Pour the filling mixture over the crust.

Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until the edges are just firm but the middle is still unstable. Let cool completely before slicing into squares. Happy Cooking Time.
