UNSTUFFED CABBAGE ROLLS CASSEROLE
Cabbage roll
is an easy family favorite. It combines all the delicious flavors of stuffed
cabbage rolls with far less time and effort.
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 small head green cabbage, roughly chopped
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 2 teaspoons packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup uncooked white rice
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 (28-ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 3/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
First, lightly
coat Dutch Dutch oven with cooking spray or vegetable oil. Add the ground beef
and onion and cook until the ground beef is no longer pink, breaking it into
small pieces while cooking. Empty the fat.
Then, add
the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
Add the
tomato paste and mix well.
Add all
other ingredients except rice.
Cover
partially and simmer for 10 minutes.
Stir in the
rice and continue cooking partially covered for 15 to 20 minutes.
