Apple Pudding Cake
This apple
pudding cake tastes like a traditional apple bread pudding recipe. It's one of
those easy dessert recipes that are delicious served hot with ice cream and
sprinkled with cinnamon.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup water
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, separated
- 2 Firm, tart apples (such as Pink Lady, Honey Crisp, or Granny Smith), peeled and cut into 1/4" thick slices
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3/4 teaspoon fine sea salt + a pinch
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/3 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
- 2 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, separated
Instructions
First, preheat
the oven to 350 ° and prepare a greased 8 "x8" square baking dish.
Then, add 2
tablespoons of butter to a large sauté pan over medium-high heat. As soon as
the butter has melted, add the sliced apples. Sauté the apples for 2-3
minutes, until a little color begins to develop.
Add the
water, brown sugar, 1 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon and a generous pinch of salt
to the pan, and stir to combine. Cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring often,
until the apples have softened and the sauce thickens. Reserve until needed.
Melt the remaining
10 tablespoons of butter in a microwave safe dish.
Reserve until needed.
In a large
mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, the rest 1
teaspoon cinnamon and 3/4 teaspoon salt. Stir in milk, followed by melted
butter and vanilla.
Using a
slotted spoon, add about half of the cooked apples to the dough and stir again.
Do not add the sauce yet. Reserve the remaining apples and sauce.
Transfer the
dough to the baking dish and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the center is set
and the edges are golden.
Remove from
oven, poke holes on top using a toothpick or fork tines. Pour the rest of the
apples and the caramel sauce on top.

Cooking Time.
