SKILLET GARLIC BUTTER ROSEMARY DINNER ROLLS

SKILLET GARLIC BUTTER ROSEMARY DINNER ROLLS

These homemade garlic butter buns are the perfect addition to your Sunday dinner or holiday table! They are made from a simple homemade dough.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 tbsp sugar, divided
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup whole milk (105-110 degrees F)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary, divided
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature

DIRECTIONS:

First, combine milk, yeast and 1 tbsp of sugar in a small bowl; let stand until frothy, about 5 minutes.

Then, in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle, beat the butter, 1 tablespoon of rosemary, garlic, salt and 1 tablespoon of remaining sugar on medium speed until they are light and sparkling, about 2 minutes. Beat the egg until well combined. Stir in the yeast mixture and 1 1/2 cups of flour until a smooth dough forms.

Using the dough hook, gradually add 1 1/4 cups of the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until a soft, smooth ball of dough forms. The dough should be elastic and slightly sticky to the touch. Increase speed to medium-high and beat for 3 minutes.

Lightly oil a large bowl or coat with non-stick spray; put the dough in a bowl, turning it over to coat.
Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let stand in a warm place until the dough has doubled in size, about 30 to 45 minutes.

Gently deflate the dough by hitting it. Roll into a 10-inch rope; cut into 10 1-inch pieces, press each piece into a disc, then shape into a ball.

Lightly oil a 10-inch cast iron skillet or coat with non-stick spray. Place the dough balls in the prepared skillet; brush top with melted butter and sprinkle with remaining 1 tbsp rosemary. Cover with a clean tea towel and let stand in a warm place until the dough doubles in size, about 30 to 45 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Place in the oven and bake until golden brown, about 20 to 24 minutes.

Serve hot. Happy Cooking Time.
