Honey Wheat Bran Bread
Bread with wheat bran and honey - delicious homemade bread lightly sweetened with honey and with the healthy flavor of oats; makes a great sandwich bread.
Ingredients
- 2 Eggs
- 1 Tablespoon Salt
- 2 Cups Warm Water
- 1/4 Cup Honey
- 1 Cup Wheat Bran
- 1 Tablespoon Dry, Active yeast
- 5 Cups Unbleached, All-Purpose Flour
Instructions
First, combine lukewarm water, yeast and honey in a bowl. Let stand until foaming about 5 minutes.
Then, add the wheat bran, eggs and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
Slowly add the flour and mix until it collects into a ball of dough.
Turn the dough over on a floured board and knead until soft and elastic.
Coat a bowl with oil. Return the dough to the bowl to coat lightly with oil.
Cover the bowl with a towel and let rise until it doubles. Approximatly one hour.
Hit the dough and turn it over in a floured bowl.
Divide the dough in half and knead to form loaves.
Place the shaped breads in greased loaf pans or in baskets of napkins to increase. Leave to double for about an hour.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. If you bake breads on a stone, be sure to put them in the oven during preheating.
Bake the breads in the preheated oven for 40 minutes or until cooked. They will sound hollow when tapped with a join.
Remove from oven and pans immediately to cool on racks.
