Creme Brulee French Toast Recipe









Creme Brulee French Toast - delicious overnight toast recipe with a tasty layer of caramel on one side!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tbsp orange juice
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 cup half and half
  • 1 loaf french bread (about 1 pound), sliced into 1" pieces

Instructions

First, combine eggs, milk, half and half, vanilla extract, orange juice, nutmeg and salt in a bowl until well combined. Place the bread on a high-rimmed baking sheet in a single layer. Pour the egg and milk mixture over the bread, making sure all the pieces are covered. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator overnight. Turn the bread pieces at least once before bedtime or an hour before baking in the morning.

Then, preheat the oven to 350F. Combine the melted butter and brown sugar in a small bowl. Put parchment paper on another baking sheet and spread the brown sugar mixture evenly. Place pieces of bread on brown sugar making sure each piece is covered.

Bake for 20 minutes. Turn the pieces of bread over and bake for another 5 minutes or until the brown sugar boils.

Serve hot and enjoy! Garnish with powdered sugar and fruit.
