Irish Potato Bread

Irish Potato Bread

These traditional toast buns, called "farls", can also be made with mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups plain flour
  • 30 grams butter - chopped
  • 500 grams potatoes
  • good pinch o salt

Instructions

First, peel and cut your potatoes into large pieces. Place in a large pot of cold water and bring to a boil. Once the potatoes are cooked in the drip tray and let stand until they are cold enough to handle, but still lukewarm.

Then, put your potatoes in a juicer or sieve them in a large bowl. Add your butter, it should melt as you mix it because the potatoes are still hot. Add salt and two-thirds of your flour and mix well.
Continue adding the rest of the flour until your dough is no longer sticky.

Process your dough on a floured surface and spread it out to 5 mm thick. Cut into squares.

In a large heavy-bottomed pan, heat 1T olive oil and a little butter (about 1 / 2T). Over medium heat, cook your potato until golden, making sure to turn it over during cooking. Repeat until all of your potato bread is cooked.

Once cooked, it is ready to eat.

Happy Cooking Time.
