Coffee cake fritters topped with vanilla frosting! Ready in less than 30 minutes.
Ingredients
For the Doughnuts:
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, at room temperature
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
For the Crumb Topping:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup light brown sugar
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the Glaze:
- ½ tablespoon milk
- ½ cup confectioner’s sugar
Instructions
First, preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Spray a donut pan with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
Then, prepare the breadcrumbs by melting the butter in a heat-resistant bowl. Stir in brown sugar, flour and ground cinnamon until crumbs form. Put aside.
In a medium bowl, sift the flour, baking powder and salt. Put aside.
In the bowl of your stand mixer, mix the sugar, egg and melted butter. Add the milk and vanilla extract.
Once the wet ingredients are combined, slowly add the dry ingredients and mix until completely incorporated.
Place the dough in a medium-sized Ziploc bag and seal. Cut a corner of the bag and fill each cup with aux donut. Divide the breadcrumbs equally between the 6 donuts. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 14 to 16 minutes or until the donuts are lightly browned. Remove from oven and let stand in donut pan for 5 minutes or until slightly cooled. Remove the donuts and place them on a wire rack.
Then make the frosting. Whisk together the sugar and milk from the confectioner until smooth. Sprinkle the desired amount on the donuts. Happy Cooking Time.
