SLOW COOKER FRENCH DIP SANDWICHES

SLOW COOKER FRENCH DIP SANDWICHES

Learn how to make French dip sandwiches in the slow cooker. The meat is cooked slowly with onions, garlic and herbs. In the end, you have the tenderest beef and juice. Add the meat to your favorite hoagie rolls. Garnish with cheese and put in the oven to get it all nice and toasted.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 6 hoagie rolls
  • 2 cups beef broth (1 can is fine)
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 12 slices Provolone cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt, divided
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil
  • 1 (2 1/2 to 3-pound) boneless chuck roast, trimmed of excess fat
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

Instructions

First, heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sprinkle the roast with salt and pepper and cook until both sides are seared, about 3 minutes on each side.

Then, transfer to a slow cooker.

Add the onions to the pan and cook until lightly browned, about 3 minutes.

Add the onions to the slow cooker with 1/2 teaspoon of salt, beef broth,
Worcestershire sauce, bay leaf, garlic and thyme. Cover and cook on LOW for 9-10 hours.

Heat the oven to 375 degrees. Cut the rolls in half and line the inside with cheese slices, using 2 slices per hoagie roll. Place on a baking sheet and bake for about 5 minutes, until the cheese is melted.

Remove the meat from the slow cooker and place it in a bowl. Use a fork to shred it.

To serve, stuff each hoagie with beef and onions and serve with cooking liquid. Happy Cooking Time.
