Crab Bite Appetizer
Very good.
These crab appetizers are perfect for special parties. The preparatory work can
be done the day before, then cooked just before the arrival of the guests. You
can also use this recipe and roll the dough, with the filling in a strudel.
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 stick butter, melted
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 Tablespoon onion, finely chopped
- 1 package Jiffy Cornbread mix
- 1 container real lump crab meat (8 oz)
- 2 Tablespoons sugar
- 4 oz cream cheese, room temperature
- 1 Tablespoon red pepper, finely chopped
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
First, saute
the onion and pepper in a tablespoon of oil until they soften. Add the garlic
and sauté for another 30 seconds. Let cool.
Then, combine
the rest of the ingredients in a large bowl. Add the onions and peppers. Mix
well.
Shape into
small balls and place on a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a
saucepan, wok or frying pan, add the oil over medium-high heat. You want there
to be enough oil to cover the crab balls 3/4.
Add 4 to 5
crab balls at a time and let them cook until they turn golden, between 4 and 5
minutes, turning them from time to time.
Place on
paper towels and continue until all poppers are finished.

Cooking Time.
