Turtle Thumbprint Cookies








Get ready to impress with this easy turtle footprint cookie recipe! Decadent chocolate cookies rolled in pecans and filled with soft caramel make any cookie platter look very special! Perfect for the holidays!

Ingredients

Cookie
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 eggs (1 egg with egg and yolk separated + 1 additional egg white)

Caramel Filling
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • 14 Kraft Caramels

Chocolate Drille
  • 2 squares Chocolate Candy Coating

Instructions

First, preheat the oven to 350.

Then, combine flour, cocoa and salt in a bowl and set aside.

Beat the butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add 1 egg yolk, milk and vanilla. Mix until homogeneous.

Add the dry ingredients and mix well.

Refrigerate 1 hour.

Mix 2 egg whites in a bowl until they are frothy. Place the chopped pecans in another bowl.

Roll the chilled dough into 1 to 1½ inch balls, dip in the egg whites, then roll in the pecans. Place on a greased baking sheet.

Use ½ teaspoon to make a cave in the center of each ball.

Bake for 11 to 12 minutes. Let cool.

Place the caramels and cream in a small bowl and microwave until smooth, stopping and stirring occasionally.

Fill the fingerprints in the cookie with the caramel mixture.

Melt the candy coating by placing it in a small saucepan over low heat and stirring constantly. Pour the chocolate into a ziploc bag with the cut corner and sprinkle with cookies. Let it set.
