Nutella Soufflés

Nutella Soufflés

These Nutella soufflés, a quick and easy dessert to prepare using the world famous chocolate hazelnut spread; it will delight the taste buds of young and old!

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons sugar for prepping dishes
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 6 ounces (3/4 cup) Homemade Nutella
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

First, place the rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 400F.

Then, brush 3/4 cup soufflé dishes with melted butter, flipping up the sides; sprinkle with sugar (about ½ teaspoon in each cup), tilt the cups to coat and remove any excess. Using strips of parchment paper and kitchen string, make a necklace around each dish. The neck should extend about 2 inches above the edge of the ramekin. Place prepared soufflé dishes on a large baking sheet.

Combine Nutella and cream in a large metal bowl or Pyrex. Place the bowl on a pan of barely simmering water and stir until the mixture is melted and smooth. Remove the bowl from the water. Add the egg yolk and salt to the mixture.

Beat the egg whites in another large bowl until soft peaks form. Gradually add 1 tablespoon of sugar, beating until semi-firm peaks form. Using a rubber spatula, fold 1/4 of the beaten egg whites into the Nutella mixture to lighten. Incorporate the remaining egg whites in the Nutella mixture in 2 additions. Divide the soufflé mixture into the prepared soufflé dishes, filling the dishes completely.

Bake soufflés on a baking sheet until puffed and tops are firm, about 16 minutes at room temperature and about 18 minutes when cold.

Happy Cooking Time.
