Old Fashioned Rice Pudding
Old-fashioned
rice pudding is so creamy with perfect texture and sweetness. It only takes a
handful of ingredients and a little patience to make this favorite dessert of
yesteryear.
Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup uncooked long grain rice
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
- Ground Cinnamon optional, for garnish
Instructions
First, combine
milk, sugar, rice and salt in a large saucepan. Over medium to low heat, cook
the mixture, stirring constantly until it begins to boil.
Resist the urge to
increase the heat to boil it faster. It should come to a slow boil.
Then, once
the mixture is boiling, pour it into a buttered 1 1/2 pint baking dish. Cover
with aluminum foil and place in your oven preheated to 325 degrees. Bake for 45
minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. After 45 minutes, add the raisins and vanilla.
Cook another 15 minutes until the rice is tender. Sprinkle with cinnamon, serve
hot or refrigerated. Happy Cooking Time.
